Wildlife Waystation Mission

The mission of the Wildlife Waystation is to rescue and provide sanctuary for native and exotic wildlife both nationally and internationally.

Grizzly Girls
Miss Montana and her sister, Miss America, were orphaned when their mother and a rancher startled each other and the mother was shot. Unable to survive on their own, Montana officials asked us to take them. Affectionately called the Grizzly girls, they have been here since 1995.

Barney
As a young adult,Barney a beautiful barn owl, was hit by a car. Found lying in the road, a caring person brought him to the Waystation. One wing was so severely injured that he could not be released and would never fly again. Barney has been here since 2009.

Mungar
When Mungar, a Bengal tiger, was four months old, he was “retired” as a photo prop at a roadside attraction. Because he lacked an optic nerve, Mungar is blind in one eye and has metabolic issues. In spite of his physical issues, he has an incredible fun-loving personality. Mungar has been here since 2005.

Book a Private Event

Although we are a private sanctuary, and not currently open for general tours, there are opportunities to attend or book a private gathering in the sanctuary garden of our founder, Martine Colette. For detailed information, please call (818) 899-5201
